They Call Themselves AMERICANS?

Dear Readers,

Prissy is appalled at the Bush family and their snobbery. Prissy muses that it is clear to her these folks have no idea what America is really about. Oh sure, they understand American capitalism and the "free enterprise system", but the rest of Americas' values are lost on them. Although wealth can buy many things, values are not something which can be purchased. Some values require work and even sacrifice, so perhaps it is not something they are familiar with.

Does Barbara Bush, Sr. think the kind of American behavior Prissy is speaking of is only for "the little people"? Only she knows for sure; with a pattern showing a consistent lack of sensitivity for others, it certainly looks that way...Barbara Bush showing some compassion, in her own way- for the victims of Hurricane Katrina:

From Editor and Publisher: Then she added: "What I'm hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them." editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001054719 Oh, please tell Prissy that Babs did not really say that....yet Babs can probably quote Emily Post by heart. Prissy says take a cot for a few days next to the thousands of others, your attitude is bound to change.

So much for a government that strives to lift everyone's boat- not drown the folks in canoe's to make more room for those with cabin cruisers. Along with empty hearts, come empty conscience. They "don't do" empathy. Snap judgments are not a problem. In fact it is easy. This appears to be the formula to qualify for FEMA assistance in America: Low income = low value=Help once the "numbers" of those requiring assistance "drops". Prissy feels the politicians responsible for this are criminally negligent and should be investigated as such. New Orleans 9/3/05

Dubya always has Mommy and Daddy working damage control...Prissy has always felt that in order to be effective it's something that must begun by parents much earlier than when your child is pushing 60 years of age. Papa Bush yarning on to Larry King: George H.W. Bush: Media Unfairly Slamming My Son (Paging "Mr. Sulzberger")editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001054805 Excerpt:

Appearing on the Larry King show on CNN Monday night, former President George H.W. Bush defended his son against criticism for his response to the hurricane disaster, suggesting it was mainly media-generated.

Oh go on now.....the only thing "media generated" were the photo-ops when Dubya flew into Louisiana. The mainstream press let him have a ticket to ride-again.

The photo-ops themselves should have been the story: "President Staging "Photo-Ops" While Citizens Die of Thirst and Hunger Behind Scene". Americans, where is your OUTRAGE? Prissy has enough for several people!

The Chicago Tribune reported that a huge assault ship, the USS Bataan, had been deployed in the Gulf of Mexico when the hurricane struck. Despite the fact it had six operating rooms and 600 hospital beds, and was willing to help, Fema did not use it all week. A New Orleans newspaper, the Times-Picayune, published an open letter to the president calling for every official at Fema to be fired, "director Michael Brown especially".
