That Was Then, This is Now

(Link fixed-Ribbon available @ dontblamemeivoted4kerry.com/) September 11,2001 was the first major failure of this administration. Despite many warnings, it happened.(See Presidential Daily Briefing-August 6,2001)Some say it was Bush's finest hour. Prissy even thought maybe Dubya wasn't such a party boy mentality president. He handled it all, almost as though it was not such a surprise... It is very odd they could rise to the occasion then, but leave the people of New Orleans on their own for days, during one of the the worst disasters in American history.

911 Families For Peaceful Tomorrows-The Highjacking of 911-peacefultomorrows.org/article.php?id=458 Excerpt today: A majority of Americans today believe it was wrong to go to war in Iraq, and that we should leave that country. A majority of Americans believe we are less secure as a result of that war. We are a part of that majority, and we welcome all of the new voices being raised in discussion about the policies of our nation. Active duty members of the military, veterans, and families of all backgrounds are speaking out, and their dialogue deserves a hearing.

But as ordinary Americans continue the historic democratic tradition of speaking truth to power, and demanding a responsive and representative government, what should be a rich discussion among all Americans has provoked some decidedly undemocratic responses. Free speech is being equated with treason. Criticism of the war in Iraq is being equated with surrender. Whistleblowers are being punished. The extremism we rightly criticize around the world cannot be tolerated here. Prissy agrees!

A statement issued by September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows on 9/11, last year- reads in part: Today, as we commemorate September 11, 2004, we find that our worst fears have been realized. The terrorism of September 11th has been neither neutralized, nor ended, by the terrorism of war.

From Sunday Washington Post: (WP Gives yet, another free ride to neoRepublicans-Why do they say they love America?-PP)

We didn't expect any breaches. Army Corps officials were trying to close the gaps in the levees, but their hurried efforts to stem the flow were hampered by a lack of supplies. They could not find 10-ton sandbags or the slings they needed to drop the bags from helicopters; most of their personnel had evacuated, and so had their local contractors. "We didn't expect any breaches," Dan Hitchings of the agency's Mississippi Valley Division later explained. "We didn't think we were going to have a wall down." The corps tried to drop smaller sandbags into the 17th Street breach, but they simply floated away with the current.

Could not find the 10 ton sandbags? Is he sure sandbags were the fix? Perhaps they were looking in the wrong COUNTRY for them......like say, Iraq? Seems that German technology has founded a block system to repair levee breaches, these blocks also happen to be bullet proof and make great barriers. Great for the soldiers, not so great for New Orleans. Prissy sees FEMA is feeding MRE's to hurricane victims. Well and good, they should certainly be fed and in a timely manner. What will you be feeding our soldiers in Iraq? Is there enough to go around? If there isn't, Prissy will find out first and let you know.....

Gee, Team Bush, who knew? Well, it would appear everyone did EXCEPT you guys!

Whopper of the Week: "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. They did appreciate a serious storm but these levees got breached and as a result much of New Orleans is flooded and now we're having to deal with it and will," Bush told the BBC.

Whopper of the decade: When Condi Rice made the outragous claim that " no one thought they would fly aircraft into buildings." Prissy gives them a big fat "F" for EFFORT.....

The Crazies Speak When Bill Clinton Ran the Show....:

"You can support the troops but not the president." --Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years." --Joe Scarborough (R-FL)

"Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?" --Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99

"[The] President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy." --Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)

"American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy." --Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy." --Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of George W Bush

"I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning . . . I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area." --Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)

"I cannot support a failed foreign policy. History teaches us that it is often easier to make war than peace. This administration is just learning that lesson right now. The President began this mission with very vague objectives and lots of unanswered questions. A month later, these questions are still unanswered. There are no clarified rules of engagement. There is no timetable. There is no legitimate definition of victory. There is no contingency plan for mission creep. There is no clear funding program. There is no agenda to bolster our over-extended military. There is no explanation defining what vital national interests are at stake. There was no strategic plan for war when the President started this thing, and there still is no plan today." --Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)

"Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is." --Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)

A MUST READ- Sure to be an American classic...... gaelicstarover.blogspot.com/2005/09/pastor-niemller-in-21st-century.html There are links to each statement, with news articles cited on the original blog. Thank you to the Prissy Patriot dear reader for sending this.

Remember this? Prissy learned it in school, perhaps you did too.

First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me. by Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945

Pastor Niemöller in the 21st Century

Then they dispatched hordes of their wenching devotees to New York to make a party out of that City’s tragedy, and to deny its residents freedom of speech and assembly, right of way and access to their own City park, but again, I wasn’t a New Yorker. I did nothing.

Then, they “counted” ballots behind closed doors, but I was neither from Ohio nor a Democrat. I did nothing.

Then, they tried to plunder Social Security so that their Wall Street campaign contributors could go out on binge, but I didn’t fall into the effected age bracket. I did nothing.

Then they trashed and slimed a Gold Star Mom, but I had no children in the military. I did nothing.

Then, they nibbled on cake and plucked on a guitar, while neglectfully presiding over the destruction of a great American City and the cruel deaths of tens of thousands of its inhabitants, but I didn’t live in New Orléans. I did nothing…

…Then, they came for me…”
