Autumn Arrives...Is There a Cold Wind Blowing in America? Hot Links

Dear Readers,

Here is an interesting concept...."We the people have been divided into a Cold Civil War. " Regardless of the varied reasons for this in the paper that Prissy read (posted below)-one can easily see that term on the surface could apply to the current juncture in American politics and public society.

Indeed, those still supporting the outrageous and radical policies of the current administration are in startling contrast to the rest of America and the world.

Some appear to believe the administration can do no wrong, damn the consequences. They may be far and few between at this point, but this has left us with a small group who believe Dubya when he held the example that violence is a solution. Not the failure of diplomacy skills.

Others disliked him from the beginning. Prissy wasn't really one of them, it was a gradual process....the war drums of August 2002 were the last straw for Prissy. Outraged by finding no evidence to support his claims, Prissy took the time to let him know this in a professional manner out of concern for our military and the people of Iraq. Perhaps he is getting bad advice, she mused. Before she realized the dark side of the plan....

The world, having seen the face of fascism before- recognized it almost instantly. It is like the boy who appears to have manners in front of Papa- but Papa "sees" something in the boy he just doesn't like. A restlessness, perhaps. Papa is usually correct about these matters...and of course the world was more wise .

So Be It: A Blueprint for a Peaceful Revolution-by Dave Berman http://tinyurl.com/au2pj

Excerpt:

America is in the midst of a Cold Civil War, more commonly described as a culture war or the red state/blue state phenomenon. These oversimplifications perpetuate a set of myths, explored throughout this paper, which collectively represent what has been called The Big Lie.

Sides are chosen in this Cold Civil War based largely upon whether one continues to believe The Big Lie. Many of us may not even be sure which side we're on, a particularly insidious aspect of this Cold Civil War. Inherent uncertainty will be a common theme throughout this paper.

Millions of Americans currently suffer from cognitive dissonance as a result of The Big Lie. Cognitive dissonance is the confusing mental trap created by Orwellian contradictions, such as claims that "they" (terrorists) hate our freedoms when in fact those making such claims are the ones to formally enact legislation abridging our rights. These paradoxes inflict upon society a rift in the perception of reality. The intentional creation of such a rift is a hallmark of The Big Lie. This is how America's Cold Civil War was created and continues to be fueled. Cognitive dissonance keeps many people in denial of The Big Lie.

The Big Lie is a good description of the mass deception Americans have experienced.

Very interesting paper-Prissy is not advocating anything but peaceful solutions and a open mind to problem solving...

Excerpt: That is when the shooting started.

For about twenty or thirty minutes that seemed like the proverbial eternity, bullets raged above my head. Clumps of dirt and splinters pelted me in spite of my hosts attempts to shield me. I suddenly knew the terror of war. To be subjected to sustained machine gun fire with no imaginable escape is the essence of terror.

Excerpt: NEW YORK, Aug 30 (IPS) - Whistleblowers -- those who go public with allegations of waste, fraud and abuse -- continue to have a tough time, despite a law protecting them and repeated assurances from the White House, many government agencies and Congress that they maintain a policy of zero tolerance for retaliation.

The latest victim of apparent retaliation is Bunnatine H. "Bunny" Greenhouse, the senior contracting officer for the Army Corps of Engineers, who objected -- first, internally, then publicly -- to a multi-billion dollar, no-bid contract with the Halliburton company for work in Iraq.

Add another victim to the Dubya/Rove "smear till you fear" campaign of those who dare come against them...

WASHINGTON, 10 October 2005 — No evidence suggests that the deadly earthquake that rocked Pakistan on Saturday injured or killed the world’s top terror leader, Osama Bin Laden.

The quake shook the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where Bin Laden is believed to be hiding. However, authorities at this point have no information indicating he’s been injured or killed, said a US official.

No, nor is there any real evidence he has been alive for quite some time, now is there....

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=16223364&method=full&siteid=94762&headline=is-this-the-death-of-america--name_page.html UK Mirror- IS THIS THE DEATH OF AMERICA? America's sense of itself - its pride in its power - has been profoundly damaged.

AMERICA, which has the world's costliest health care, had, it turned out, higher infant mortality rates than the broke and despised Cuba.

Tom De Lay, Republican enforcer in the House of Representatives, was indicted for conspiracy and money laundering. The leader of the Republicans in the Senate was under investigation for his stock dealings. And Osama bin Laden was still on the loose.

Americans are the planet's biggest flag wavers. They are reared on the conceit that theirs is the world's best and most enviable country, born only the day before yesterday but a model society with freedom, opportunity and prosperity not found, they think, in older cultures.

I think the bird is saying something.

Let's look closely, I see hints of letters.

The little water fowl has left strange markings in the wood, reading:

M A L F E A S A N C E.

What could that possibly mean?

I sense the little creature of the sea is trying to say two things, which I tend to believe, although the court has yet to adjudicate:

A. Seagull suggests, "This is not a good thing, especially when dealing with corporate laws, boards of directors, and that nasty thing called fiduciary duty"; and/or

B. Bird is implying, "But then again, that's just my personal opinion and I'm not accusing anyone of a crime. I'll wait for Elliot Spitzer to do that."

Oh, wouldn't it be funny if money was flowing around so quickly through the board of directors that it somehow got tangled up with Congressman Delay's problems?

Western Area Power Authority. Strange how I keep seeing the same lobbyist names on the White House advisory committees that . . . ah, we'll let Mr Fitzgerald in Chicago make the appropriate disclosure.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Warner Brothers prefers camera-ready scripts.

Prissy's Quotes of the Day:

"Although a member of the Bush family has been part of the ruling Presidential ticket 5 out of the last 7 contests, both 41 and 43 went out of their way to say they don't appreciate the term 'dynasty.' Yeah, well, you know what? Neither do we." --Comedian Will Durst

"Because he's hiding." --President Bush, after being asked by the Washington Post why Osama bin Laden has not been caught, aboard Air Force One, Jan. 14, 2005

"It's important for people to know that I'm the president of everybody." --President Bush, aboard Air Force One, Jan. 14, 2005

Yes, Dubya-we all feel the weight of your presidency....
