Amy Goodman Comes to Columbus, Ohio- Hot Links

UPDATE: DELAY INDICTED AGAIN! Excerpt from the Houston Chronicle:

The new indictment, handed up by a grand jury seated today, contains two counts: conspiring to launder money and money laundering. The latter charge carries a penalty of up to life in prison. Last week, DeLay was charged with conspiracy to violate campaign finance laws.

Prissy will report late Tuesday afternoon with a hot off the press story when Ted Strickland announces his candidacy for Governor of Ohio....thank Goodness, Ohio will now have some hope.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/topstory/3380481

Columbus will finally get it's own FM progressive talk radio station. That is what Amy Goodman of DemocracyNow.org came to Columbus to talk about. That and the rampant corporate medias suppression of real news.

Most reporters would not go to the extremes to get news that Amy Goodman has and thank God for journalists like her. The ones who really take the risk to report what is going on in the world's hot spots. Christiane Amanpour is CNN's chief international correspondent and another journalist that Prissy greatly admires.

From a Washington Post blog:

"Gunsmoke" and "McCloud" star Dennis Weaver rode into town yesterday not on a horse but in a Toyota Prius. He rolled up his sleeves to lobby Congress and the administration to encourage the production of gasoline-saving hybrid vehicles and promote energy independence. Yesterday, he met with Assistant Energy Secretary David Garmen and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's staffer Libby Jarvis. "I look at my children and grandchildren, also kids all over the world, and I think we need to leave them a planet," said Weaver, 78, who drove 3,878 miles from Santa Monica, Calif., stopping at 18 cities along the way, in his 46 mpg, electric-and-gas car.

That's a real American cowboy-Mr. Weaver actually cares about his legacy-most families know that in and of itself is a gift...

Hot Links news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/article316682.ece The UK Independent:Iraq war delayed Katrina relief effort, inquiry finds-October 3,2005

An excerpt: Relief efforts to combat Hurricane Katrina suffered near catastrophic failures due to endemic corruption, divisions within the military and troop shortages caused by the Iraq war, an official American inquiry into the disaster has revealed.

The confidential report, which has been seen by The Independent, details how funds for flood control were diverted to other projects, desperately needed National Guards were stuck in Iraq and how military personnel had to "sneak off post" to help with relief efforts because their commander had refused permission.

The shortcomings in dealing with Katrina have rocked George Bush's administration. Michael Brown, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has resigned from his post and polls show that a majority of Americans feel the President showed inadequate leadership.

The report was commissioned by the Office of Secretary of Defence as an "independent and critical review" of what went so wrong. In a hard-hitting analysis, it says: "The US military has long planned for war on two fronts. This is as close as we have come to [that] reality since the Second World War; the results have been disastrous."

The document was compiled by Stephen Henthorne, a former professor of the US Army's War College and an adviser to the Pentagon who was a deputy-director in the Louisiana relief efforts.

It charts how "corruption and mismanagement within the New Orleans city government" had "diverted money earmarked for improving flood protection to other, more vote-getting, projects. Past mayors and governors gambled that the long-expected Big Killer hurricane would never happen. That bet was lost with Hurricane Katrina."

The report concludes that although the US military did a good job in carrying out emergency missions, there were some serious shortcomings.

This explains much (but not all) about the lack of response...as Prissy said earlier, there were precious little responders to be had. The ones who did try to help were ham-stringed further up the "supply line."

The plot thickens....from the UK Mirror

The 79-year-old former Premier is said to have met Congressman Tom DeLay in Britain while he was on a suspected favours-for-freebies scam.

Ah, but there is more...

The briefing adds that police investigating the meeting "have been asked to handle these inquiries sensitively given the nature of the individual concerned and the background to the request". Members of the Scottish Parliament will be questioned concerning any contacts they may have had with Abramoff, DeLay or members of their party.

Scottish police will collect hotel record, bills, invoices, and statements.

newswithviews.com/Briley/Patrick17.htm DID H.W. BUSH, CLINTON OFFICIALS ORCHESTRATE OKC BOMBING? by Patrick Briley

About this blogger:Patrick Briley is a Navy Viet Nam era veteran who served on a Polaris ballistic missile nuclear submarine patrol in the Pacific." My Polaris submarine patrol in the Pacific was in far East Asia near China but I can not elaborate any more than that other than to say it was a very special, historically significant and exceptionally dangerous. Briley was chosen to work under Admiral Rickover at Naval Reactors. He volunteered for Naval service from 1968 to 1976 during the Viet Nam era including being in Naval ROTC, a batallion commander of my ROTC unit and a Midshipman on board the ballistic missile submarine, SSBN 624, the Woodrow Wilson, as well as serving at Naval Reactors in DC for Admiral Rickover. Patrick started research and investigation into terrorist attacks after the Oklahoma City bombing. Pat submitted his findings concerning the OKC bombing and the 9-11 attacks in briefings to high-level staff for the Senate Judiciary and Senate and House Intelligence committees, House Speaker Dennis Hastert, and the 9-11 Commission.

Mr. Briley certainly raises valid concerns,Prissy would like to hear more... And Two more...

Granny declares, "heads have begun to roll"....we expect it shall proceed in stair-step fashion, causing the least disruption as possible to our government workings. The very few politcians who managed to stay clear of the neoRepublican doo-doo are very happy they won't get caught up in all this....Barbara Boxer, John Conyers and a handful of others.

Prissy must send them PrissyBalls to thank them for their public service.
